The other day I went to a friend’s house and climbed a ladder to grab as many pears as I could. I was down-right giddy to get my hands on them. Pears are my favorite fruit. They have gone to many good uses. Eating them just by themselves is highly recommended. This is just one of the ways I used them.

I had to try a grilled cheese with the pears. It’s the season for grilled cheese – it’s the perfect soup, stew or chili match. I couldn’t help but add the radishes. I’ve been a bit obsessed with the flavor. The flavors here play off of each other and they balance out beautifully. A bit creamy, crunchy, toasty, sweet – a little kick. And, what could be easier for dinner on a weeknight?

I try to do vegetarian meals once a week – I know a lot of you have heard of Meatless Mondays. I’m a bit too scattered (I call it spontaneous) to stick to a certain day, but I think it’s important for many reasons – health, creativity, open-mindedness – the kids and husband need broader horizons. This grilled cheese is an easy way to check out what Meatless really has to offer.
